Sembalun is widely known for its open landscapes and summit approach, while Senaru offers forest scenery and a beautiful crater-rim route. Shorter viewpoints and village walks around the national park are also available for guests who do not want to climb to the summit.

The best itinerary depends on your fitness, available time, weather, and current park regulations. Trekking permits, route access, guides, and safety requirements must be checked through official channels before departure.

How to prepare

Rinjani is a demanding mountain, not a casual walk. Wear proper hiking shoes, bring warm layers, a headlamp, water, sun protection, and a small first-aid kit. A reliable local operator can arrange permits, transport, food, camping equipment, and porters.

Weather and trail conditions can change quickly. Always follow the instructions of your guide and the national park authorities, and never continue if conditions become unsafe.
